Much has been written about the Arts and Crafts
Movement and the influence that Japanese Medieval
Design can be found in the the Revival of forms that
came out of that period in the Early 20th Century.
Here is one of those forms created for the use of
Incandescent bulbs. The fluted Teardrop Opaline
shades have a very stylized effect. The Earlier Victorian
period used bullet shades that were much pointier.
These Bullet shades are more organic, almost
Art Nouveau in detail. There were a lot of movements
in design at this time and even though this is an Arts
and Crafts fixture you can see other influences at work.
